BUY A SERVICE BUSINESS

Service businesses are the lifeblood of the American economy, yet they are struggling to find quality employees. The minimum wage has increase dramatically making it difficult for small service businesses to grow. Sounds like a great sales pitch, am I right? All the above are true, but the current market is not indicative of the future potential. The major problems of a service based business can be solved with an addition of professionalism and additional start up capital.

Imagine, an employee of a cleaning company shows up at your door wearing a clean 3 button collared shirt, presents you with a certificate of bonding and insurance, a detailed checklist of task to be completed, walks your house with you while taking notes and when he/she finishes the job you are sent a report with before and after pictures. How much would you pay for this? My guess is this company could charge an additional 40-50% compared to the market. Oh yeah, and the additional cost of that company would be very marginal compared to the market. If a company could boost its bottom line by 40%, they could afford to hire quality employees at higher than market rates, decrease employee churn and experience exponential growth. The only thing that was changed was the experience and effort.

The service industry is ripe for a professional overhaul. Small changes and some startup capital is the only barrier to entry. Sounds like an investment opportunity to me.
