How To Invest $500

One of the fun aspects of owning a business is meeting really amazing people along the way. Over the year I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of amazing people and talk a lot about what I love to do , invest money. The one questions that constantly comes up in conversations with people looking to enter the investing world is this, "How would you invest $500?" In reality the person I am talking to is asking, "How can I invest $500?" The answer varies based on each persons skills, knowledge and risk level, but I thought I would take some time to outline what I would do if I only had $500, an iPhone with unlimited internet and 10-20 hours a week free time.

HUSTLE

When I look at the framework of the question at hand what really jumps out is that the context around the question indicates a "passive" investment. The questions could be phrased like this, "Where can I put $500 and get 10% or more back without doing any work." Honestly, it will be highly difficult to find an investment that fits within these constraints. Instead, the equation to grow $500 to $5,000 is this: HUSTLE + $500 = X. Hustle, in my opinion, is overlooked by most people looking to get started. To invest with success requires work and hustle.

SKILLS

Before hustle, asses skills. Leverage skills to accelerate growth. Skills will increase the rate of return 10X. The equation is now: HUSTLE + SKILLS + $500 = 10X.

ACTION

Take action. Don't be afraid to fail or do something incorrect. Simply take action with your leveraged skills.

So.......What would you do?

Following my own advice above, I would take a very simple and quick option that anyone can do. I would purchase heavily discounted used and new items from thrift stores, liquidators and big box clearance sections then turn around and sell those items at 5-10 times what I purchased them for via online platforms such as Amazon, eBay, letgo & others.
