Is Charleston WV the Next Detroit?
Charleston West Virginia is in a weird spot. Charleston has been an area hit hard by drugs. The people and community in Charleston has been so caring and loving toward the homeless/drug population we now have people taking one way bus tickets to Charleston to get drugs and live on the streets for free. Its like living in the wild, wild, west. Families have worries that shouldn't exist in our society, we worry about random needles in hidden places out children play. We worry about the safety of our partners walking down the street. This is not good.
Where do we go from here? What is the answer? To be honest, I don't have an answer. I do believe real estate investors can be part of the solution. Charleston, is full of older homes and apartments that young families or young professionals do not want to stay in. If they can't find housing, their is no reason they should stay here and make Charleston a better place. This is how real estate investors can help. Buying/flipping/improving SFH and rental properties are how we serve the community. This is our part to correct the problems of the past. Providing a clean, safe and updated living environment is our duty and obligation. This is the win-win Charleston needs right now. Investors make money and Charleston becomes a safer, cleaner and more attractive place to live.
If this is how you feel, please reach out. We can bring our old structures back to life. We can provide children the safety they deserve. We can bring young and thriving workers back to our town. Please help us make a change.
